Hi, I’m Marie—founder of Gims.

I grew up in a hanok in Jeolla-do, Korea, where gimbugak was part of daily life. Each winter, my family would make enough to last the year, drying seaweed by hand under the soft winter sun. It wasn’t a “snack”—it was just always there. With rice. With friends. With life.

Even after moving to the U.S., I never left gimbugak behind. I fried it when I missed home, and soon, friends started asking for it too. Vegan friends. Dieting friends. Friends who had never tasted seaweed—all hooked.

That’s why I started Gims: to share this piece of home, made the same way my family has for generations—by hand, with care, and with ingredients we know and trust.

Because Gims isn’t just a snack. It’s love in a crispy bite.
